The Institute seeks to mobilize networks of professionals, the media, educators and civic and corporate leaders.

Civil discourse is vital to making sure our democracy thrives; effective governance requires thoughtful debate and problem-solving.  Research shows that incivility in Congress is increasing and that it is correlated with a decline in legislative productivity. Citizen frustration with this breakdown in the democratic process is reflected in single digit approval ratings for Congress.
