Dr. Natalie (Talia) Jomini Stroud is an Associate Professor of Communication Studies and Assistant Director of the Annette Strauss Institute for Civic Life at the University of Texas at Austin. She directs the Engaging News Project, a grant-funded program that researches democratically-beneficial and economically-viable strategies for newsrooms.  Her recent book, Niche News: The Politics of News Choice (Oxford University Press, 2011) received the International Communication Association's 2012 Outstanding Book Award.  Her work on people’s preferences for likeminded information has received several additional awards, including the Michael Pfau Outstanding Article Award from the National Communication Association. Her research has appeared in Political CommunicationJournal of Communication, and Public Opinion Quarterly.  She was honored to be selected as a member of the Society for Teaching Excellence at the University of Texas at Austin.
