Paul Murray is a PhD student in Computer Science at the University of Illinois at Chicago and a research assistant in the Electronic Visualization Laboratory. His current research is aimed at utilizing state-of-the-art web technologies to develop applications that enable the effective exploration and visualization of complex, large-scale datasets related to the social and biological sciences. His general research interests include cultural analytics, scientific visualization, bioinformatics, and statistics. Paul received a MS in Sociology from the University of Arizona, where he studied social network analysis. He is currently in collaboration with Dr. Angus Forbes and postdoctoral student Tuan Dang on a DARPA-funded project exploring the analysis and visualization of multiple complex genomic activation pathways.
