Representative Ann Pugh was first elected to the Vermont House of Representatives in 1993. Born in Rye, NY, Ann moved to Burlington, VT in 1976 to begin her career as a social worker. Three years later she moved into her current home in South Burlington. Pugh served as a member of the House Human Services Committee, House Ways and Means, and House Commerce and Economic Development Committees. In 2003 she was appointed to Chair of the House Human Services Committee and has continued to hold that position since. She is also chair of the Mental Health Oversight Committee and was one of the first two House members on the Joint House and Senate Child Protection Committee. Pugh has a stepdaughter, Jennie Hayes who has also become an active community member and pubic servant.
