Senator John Unger has committed his life to being a public servant-leader and bringing together his many experiences in theology and public life. Unger has worked around the world fighting for human rights in Hong Kong, Turkey, Iraq, as well as Calcutta, India where he spent a year working with Mother Teresa in 1990. Senator Unger is currently serving in the West Virginia State Senate while simultaneously obliging as the Chief Chaplain for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department and Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department. He resides in Martinsburg with his wife Cara, who is a third grade teacher at Berkeley Heights Elementary School.
