The University of Arizona is located 60 miles from the US/Mexico border in a place that has to address head on many of the issues that most divide Americans. The university is highly ranked in multiple disciplines relevant to civil discourse – Philosophy, Communications, Sociology, Public Policy, Law and many others. In addition, a hallmark of the University of Arizona is its encouragement of cross disciplinary collaborations.
There are many faculty members at the University of Arizona whose work is relevant to the work of the National Institute for Civil Discourse. Over 50 faculty members have contacted us since we began working on creating this institute.
