Representative Sam Hunt

Representative Hunt is currently serving in Washington’s State Legislature where he chairs the Government Operations and Elections Committee, and serves on the Education Committee, the Appropriations Committee, and the Appropriations Subcommittee on General Government. Hunt has worked as Director of Legislative Affairs, for the Department of Information Services, as a public school teacher, as Governor Booth Gardner’s Special Assistant for K-12 Education, as Staff Director for the Washington State Senate Majority Leader, and on the staff of the United States Senate Committee on Appropriations under Senator Warren G. Magnuson. Representative Hunt was the Democratic recipient of the inaugural Gabby Giffords Award for Civility in State Governance from the National Institute for Civil Discourse in August 2015. He and his wife Charlene have lived in Olympia for more than 25 years. They have two grown children, Hillary and Nathan.
