Rep. Bob Cupp has been named as the new co-chair of Revive Civility Ohio.
The National Institute for Civil Discourse named Cupp to replace former Ohio Attorney General Jim Petro in the position after Petro moved out of state to be closer to family. Cupp says he is excited to get to work in showing that Ohioans can disagree without being disagreeable, particularly when it comes to public issues.
"I've really been concerned about the tone of our public conversation about public issues," says Cupp. "You can look at the campaign ads. I think they're harsh, they run against I think what many of us were taught in our homes and as once said: I learned everything I need to know in kindergarten and one of those is being respectful."
The National Institute for Civil Discourse is a nonpartisan organization that is dedicated to fostering civil discourse at every level across the nation.
